We accept applications throughout the year unless our classes are full. Students are placed in a “waiting pool” if a grade reaches capacity. Trinity offers a Christ based education with small class sizes, dedicated state certified teachers, innovative technology, as well as a wonderful fine art and music curriculum. Our students can participate in a competitive sports program and other extracurricular and school sponsored programs. Trinity was recently honored by being named a School of Distinction by placing in the top 5% of Lutheran schools nationwide.
Trinity Lutheran School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and load programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Our Young Fives program is a half day, every day program that is designed to give students who are age eligible the gift of a year before beginning kindergarten. Children need to be five years old by December 1 to qualify. We have added a full day option to our Young 5s program. Students may still enroll for the morning session only. Families may decide to transition from half days to full days during the year if they desire. This program is taught by Mrs. Moilanen and provides students with an individualized, Christian-based environment.
Trinity Lutheran School is committed to quality Christian Education which calls for a sound academic program that will meet the individual needs of children. In keeping with a Christian philosophy and with respect to the educational requirements of the State of Michigan, our children receive a thorough education, not only in Christian living, but also in a wide variety of other extra-curricular activities. Students in K-8 can enroll throughout the school year.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Trinity Lutheran is committed to providing a high quality Christian education for an affordable price. We are happy to work with all families to make a Christian education available. Many families may be eligible for some level of scholarship, based on financial need.
- Student tuition aid will be available on a financial need basis. Specific financial information will be asked for when you apply.
- Families are required to have 75% in-person worship attendance at Trinity. While you still can view church virtually, it no longer counts towards attendance.
- Information on giving and attendance records is accumulated prior to reviewing an application for assistance.

Families generally select from three payment plans. Families may pay for the year in full by the beginning of the school year, they may divide their school tuition into two payments or make 10 monthly payments during the school year. Preschool families follow a 9 month payment plan. Various payment options will be shared when you inquire about our preschool. Contact the School Office at schooloffice@trinityutica.com or 586-731-4490 ext. 130 for questions about tuition payment schedules and methods.
Trinity Lutheran School offers financial aid scholarships to families to assist in making our school affordable. All financial aid is based on the need or financial status of the student’s family, the number of requests received, and the amount of financial aid funds that are available for a given school year. Application deadlines for tuition assistance are “rolling,” but typically we hope to receive them for the new academic year by June 1. For new families who apply, applications can be received at the time of application. Applicants will be notified by mail approximately 6 weeks following each deadline of any award. All applicants must be enrolled at Trinity to be considered for a grant.
Trinity uses a nationally recognized service, FACTS, to process financial aid applications. FACTS applies standardized criteria to determine to what extent each family needs assistance to pay for one year’s tuition. Trinity’s Scholarship Committee uses information from the FACTS process to allocate the amount of financial aid available. Contact the school office with your questions about financial aid.
This scholarship fund, named in honor of former Trinity teacher and principal, Mr. Winfred M. Graebner, was established in 1992. The scholarship is set up to assist Preschool and K-8 students in Trinity school families where serious financial need exists. These funds may be applied for as scholarship assistance offered at the time of the school’s annual re-enrollment or new student application.
Individuals and families are encouraged to contribute to this scholarship fund through sharing gifts to honor the memory of loved ones, special personal or family days, i.e. birthday, anniversary, or gifts of thanks to God for the blessings of Christian education and our Christian Day School. Additional funding sources will include Thrivent Financial for Lutherans contributions and matching grants, bequests from wills and estates, and proceeds from school-wide fund raisers.
