Yeshua
by Janis Buelow (DCE Intern)
“My beloved is the most beautiful
Among thousands and thousands
No one like you God
We call your name Yeshua, oh we love you”
Recently I have been attempting to refresh my devotional life, with the task of using the “Walk Thru The Bible” series and podcasts to help me implement that habit into my life.
It has been such a breath of fresh air and has come at a time where I know that I’ve needed to really hear what God is saying to me through His Word. Digging deeper into His timelines shows so much overlap between the Old Testament and the Messianic promise, or the promise from God to send Jesus to save us from our sins.
In the midst of such busy times and busy change, that promise from God prospers through everything in our lives and really shows how much His everlasting love bleeds into the world.
Just looking outside of our windows, we can see God’s thumbprint and it is so amazing that God has tasked us with caring for His creation.
It does not always come easy, though. For instance, knowing that spiritual food is necessary can be a daunting task to create every single day, especially when the world works against us. As a new intern to Michigan, I had to adjust to leaving a friend-rich environment hours away from the people that I know and love, adjust to a new job from student to full-time professional, and adjust to living with my husband for the first time in our year of marriage.
It was hard to look out the window and have my heart opened to the love God put into every single piece of the world, and it was even harder to make it a habit to open up my Bible and read His Word. It took my heart being “reset” by truly getting a week of rest and focus in January of my internship for my heart to finally be on board again with making a habit of reading the Word.
Your life might be the same, and this whole piece is trying to tell you that if that is where you are right now, that is okay. The fact you’re reading this right now shows that you care to put that first step forward and that you care about spiritually feeding your life and your relationship with God, and that is something to celebrate!
As Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Dear Lord, Thank you for spiritually feeding us with Your Word. Amen.
