[RE]FOCUS Day 42
Week 6: Reforming
Day 7: Going Home
By Sheri Daniell
READ:
John 14:1-4 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you may also be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Sometimes heaven is expected, yet other times it is a surprise. One sure promise from John 14:1-4 is that when it is time for us to leave this world, Jesus will be ready for us. He promised to go and prepare a room for each believer. Sometimes on this side of heaven’s gate it is hard to believe that it is time. Some of us have watched an illness take our loved ones away. Others of us did not get a chance to say “Goodbye.”
What gets us through these difficult times is the promise of knowing that our great God has a place ready for us, and for our loved ones. That is how we can get through the sorrow on this side of heaven’s gate. I’m reminded of a favorite childhood song, “Heaven is a wonderful place, filled with glory and grace. I want to see my Savior’s face. Heaven is a wonderful place. I want to go there.” Some of our darkest times on this side of eternity are saved by the light promised on the other side of eternity. When it is time to go home, rest assured. Your room will be ready.
PRAY:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you so much for your reassuring promise that You are preparing a room for each of us. Until our rooms are ready, please help us spread Your word to all people. May they also know that You are preparing a room for them, as well. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
