Martin Luther said, “When schools flourish, all flourishes.” Students in third grade have an opportunity to flourish both in character building and academic success through our rigorous curriculum and various service projects. In order for all students to flourish in the classroom we incorporate differentiated instruction through the use of reading groups, project based learning activities, technology, and research based pedagogy. Learning occurs in many formats and continues to build a strong foundation for Christian service.
Third graders have an opportunity to visit the Cranbrook Museum of Science, see a matinee drama performance, and experience Crossroads Village. The students also have an opportunity to dress up as their favorite book character on Character Day. This is a culminating activity for our study of Character Traits. Third grade is a transition year as students begin to work more independently and collaboratively. Students learn cursive handwriting and memorize their multiplication tables with a special incentive at the end. We love teaching third grade because we have an opportunity to see our students increase their faith and knowledge of Jesus while also making significant academic strides. Our primary goal is to help our students understand that everything we have and are is a gift from God!
