What began with only 1 or 2 guests in August, 2002, SSS has grown to average 110 guests each Sunday. 15% of our guests are homeless, the rest of our guests are often income challenged bringing them to a smorgasbord of a meal on Sundays from 3:30 to 5:00. We do have people who come to SSS for the fellowship that they don’t receive during the week.
The meal (all you can eat until we roll you out) has been provided every Sunday for 12 years, even on holidays. Bible Study is from 2:30 to 3:30, showers are 2:00 to 4:00, haircuts (when available) are 3:30 to 4:30 and clothing is available from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. A sack lunch is available to each guest as they leave.
SSS is open to volunteers. At times, we are booked with volunteers for a number of weeks in advance. Volunteers make the sack lunches on Saturday (we have 5 teams on a rotating basis) as well as another set of volunteers doing the laundry for each weekend of the month. Four of our volunteers are Serve/Safe certified.
If you are interested in volunteering either with Sunday meals, laundry or making sack lunches please e-mail SSSvolunteer@gmail.com for volunteer information.
